Kidnapping & Lie Detector Tests
Capricorn Clark takes the stand and she has a lot to say. Big names enter the chat.
Court was back in session Tuesday, May 27th. On the stand, Capricorn Clark. Clark was an assistant for Sean Combs during the 2011 incident with Kid Cudi. She told the jury about the fateful day when she claims Combs kidnapped her, and forced her to go along with him and a security staff member to break into Cudi’s home.
“Get dressed. We’re going to kill him.” Combs said.
“I’d never seen anything like this before,” Clark said. Combs had never visited her at her home before, and she had never seen him with a weapon, she testified. “The way he was acting, I just felt like anything could happen.”
Diddy wanted to kill Kid Cudi, Clark testified. Also explaining how she and Cassie had “burner phones” that Combs wasn’t aware of. The allegation of kidnapping aligns with some of what Sean Combs is accused of under the R.I.C.O indictment.
It’s also important to note that Clark’s testimony around this incident conflicts with Kid Cudi’s testimony. Here are the differences: Kid Cudi said when he drove up to his home, Combs was gone. Clark says that she seen Cudi drive up to his home, she was still there with Combs, and Cudi sped up the hill, away from his home.
Following the alleged kidnap, Clark reported it to two Bad Boy execs: the head of human resources and Harve Pierre, the president of the company at the time.
‘That’s crazy, but it’s going to be okay,” she recalled Pierre telling her in response.
After that, Clark received 30-Days notice.
After being let go — by now she was global brand director — she said Combs told her she’d “never work again,” that he’d show her she had no friends, and that he’d “make me kill myself,” Clark said.
She soon lined up a job offer, but that “fell through,” Clark said. She struggled to find and keep employment afterward.
Clark ended up returning to work as Ventura’s creative director in 2016, work she had done at the time of the Cudi incident. She testified that Ventura’s drug use had spiked during that period and that Combs still approved “everything” Ventura did. She left the job in 2018.
We have to wonder if and when execs will be dragged into this trial or receive charges of their own. They allegedly endorsed the behavior and work atmosphere Combs created. They aided him. At some point, one thing can’t exist without the other. Could so much abuse have taken place had superiors not been complicit?
She testified that she was paid $65,000 annually as Diddy’s personal assistant. Capricorn Clark held her position with Combs Enterprises from 2004 to 2012. She then returned in 2016 until 2018.
When Clark initially began working for Combs, he was unaware she had previous ties to his enemy, Suge Knight. After finding this out, she was threatened in central park. Combs and a bodyguard, “Uncle Paulie”, took her to central park and she was told a very clear, menacing message.
“he told me he didn’t know that I had anything to do with Suge Knight and if anything happened he would have to kill me,” Clark testified.
There was another instance when jewelry went missing. Clark was given a bag full of jewelry before boarding a flight to Miami. Jacob the Jeweler had loaned these pieces to Combs. They went missing.
Capricorn Clark was then taken to an unknown building, Bad Boy headquarters, to a high floor that was under construction. Awaiting her was a “very wide” and intimidating man. While chain-smoking cigarettes and drinking black coffee, he gave her a lie detector test regarding the missing jewelry. Clark told the jury that she was so nervous and jumpy during this interaction that it was throwing off the lie detector test. The very wide man became frustrated. He informed Clark that if she couldn’t calm down, he would “throw her in the east river”.
Undoubtedly, Clark observed a lot throughout her time working for Sean Combs. Another instance she told the jury about was at MTV, involving 50 Cent, and an entertainment manager. There was some difficulty and back and fourth. Combs informed them:
“‘I don’t like all the back and forth … I like guns.’”
This manager was Chris Lighty. He was found deceased in his Bronx home by what authorities claim was a “self inflicted gun shot wound”. His cause of death was suspicious to those that knew him best. Feeling he would never commit suicide. 50 Cent even employed a private investigator to look into Lighty’s death.
Capricorn Clark also went over times she witnessed Combs abuse Cassie Ventura. Once she even called Cassie’s mom. Informing her that Combs was “beating the shit” out of her daughter, and that she couldn’t call police, but Regina Ventura could. She begged Regina, Cassie’s mom to help her daughter.
After Cassie filed her lawsuit, Capricorn Clark was called to a meeting with Sean Combs’ attorneys. They discussed the 2011 incident. Suggested she could be hired as Diddy’s chief of staff, and discussed that Diddy would be entering rehab. After that meeting, Clark never heard from his attorneys again. She told the jury the meeting “traumatized” her. At the time of this meeting, and up until today, Kristina Khorram is Diddy’s chief of staff.
“I was happy to be fired,” Clark testified under cross, saying she rested during that time.
During cross-examination Marc Agnifilo had Capricorn Clark testify to the “better times”. The early days. When she and Diddy had a platonic friendship. Marc Agnifilo also asked her about the “crush” she allegedly had on Sean Combs at one time.
Clark also aided in Diddy’s “Vote or Die” protests and campaigns.
Agnifilo asked about the pay bump she got when she worked at Jive/Zomba. Clark appeared to think Agnifilo was implying she left her job with Combs to get more money, which she pushed back on.
“That’s not why I went there,” Clark said, shaking her head vigorously.
Agnifilo also questioned her about Cassie Ventura. Clark seems to have a different perspective of Diddy’s long-time girlfriend than others have testified to previously.
“She got a little bit more bravado … being his girlfriend the longer it lasted,” Clark testified, adding, “Like sometimes she thought I was being paid to help her.” (Part of Clark’s answer was struck from the record after a prosecution objection.)
Clark recounted a conversation she had with Cassie Ventura years ago, in which Clark allegedly told Ventura she should end her romantic relationship with Combs.
Ventura’s response, Clark paraphrased to Combs’s lawyers: “Jay-Z was taken, who would she date?” Agnifilo brought up the comment and asked Clark to confirm if it was true. Clark said it was.
Marc Agnifilo really dug into the details of the 2011 incident involving Kid Cudi. Pressing Clark on whether she was “kidnapped” and further suggested she went with Combs willingly. He pressed harder on her testimony that Combs had a gun. A fact Cassie & Cudi did not mention in their testimony.
Allegedly, Capricorn Clark also phoned Lauren London during the incident.
Witness Capricorn Clark sobbed uncontrollably as she accused Cassie Ventura of “wanting her gone” and getting her fired from her job with Sean Combs after a love triangle episode involving Combs, Ventura and rapper Kid Cudi. A few beats later, Clark credited Ventura for getting her a new gig under Combs years later.
During re-direct the government aimed to recover from a messy cross-examination. Testimony that painted their star-witness, Cassie Ventura, in different lighting. Also having Clark go over abuse and violence again for the jury. The kidnapping. The gun. The stress and fear of working for Sean Combs that resulted in Clark developing alopecia.
Media reports have said Clark was an interesting and “animated” witness. Often speaking with her hands and at times becoming emotional. She stood firm during cross-examination and at times pushed back on Agnifilo’s questioning and suggestions.
While on a break the prosecution said they feel they are a head of schedule with witnesses and evidence. The judge has been clear that he wants this case wrapped up by the July 4th weekend.
It seems the defense perhaps didn’t have a great day in court. As various members of the media tried to speak to Brian Steel as he left the courthouse, he ignored them and inserted an earbud. Different from previous days when he has smiled and sometimes waved.
There was also conflict outside of the courthouse when a streamer/ content creator approached Gene Deal regarding allegations that he was at an event with underage girls and aided in whatever occurred. Gene Deal is former security for Sean Combs and has been very outspoken on many interviews about what goes on behind the scenes. Gene Deal clearly did not take kindly to the insinuation he was involved with any illegal activity with minors.
As more and more well-known names are mentioned, it’s certainly becoming interesting.
It’s also now been stated that Diddy’s chief of staff, Kristina Khorram, cannot be found in order to be served a subpoena. Reminder, she’s named in several lawsuits and is accused of some heinous things.
Court has resumed today, May 28th. A full recap will be available later once testimony is finished.
